Valerie Capers Workman is a governance-focused executive operating at the intersection of AI transformation, global compliance, and enterprise workforce strategy. Her work centers on scaling AI responsibly without compromising ethics, regulatory integrity, or human judgment. She currently serves as CHRO of Empower Pharmacy, where she is leading the design of a fully AI-powered HR ecosystem integrating AI governance, risk oversight, workforce strategy, and ethical frameworks. Previously, Valerie served as Vice President, People and Associate General Counsel, Head of Global Compliance at Tesla during a period of global expansion. She helped scale from 50,000 to over 100,000 employees while modernizing enterprise compliance programs. She led market entry compliance strategy for the Shanghai and Berlin Gigafactories and partnered with the Compensation Committee on governance and executive alignment. At Handshake, she served as Chief Legal Officer and later Chief Talent Engagement Officer, where she founded the legal function, led M&A, and advised Fortune 500 leaders on AI-era career talent strategy. She serves as a Trustee of Huston-Tillotson University and is a licensed attorney in New York, Texas, and Washington, D.C.
