Conference: October 15 - 17, 2008

Expo: October 15 - 16, 2008

Dear Colleague:

After 11 years, we have truly become the best conference in the world for what you need to learn today about technology for HR. Attendance increased 33 percent last year alone (many from outside the U.S.) and has doubled in just the last three years. Ask your colleagues at work about us: Chances are someone in your organization has already attended, if not you!

But we’re not resting on our laurels. We work hard to earn your attendance every year. So this year, we’re focusing on the three hottest areas in HR technology: Talent Management, Web 2.0 and Workforce Analytics/Planning. Especially Talent Management, which recent studies show is now HR’s #1 global problem. Plus many of the more traditional functional areas that may have plagued you for years.

If it’s important to you, we’ll be covering it.

As always, you won’t be dizzied by buzzwords or vendor hype at HR Technology, but instead learn directly from experts and senior practitioners who are putting technology to work for their organizations today. You’ll learn the details of what they’ve done, plus the business benefits they’ve gained and the potholes they’ve hit that you can now avoid.

To guarantee the program reflects your interests, we don’t sell speaking slots to exhibitors and sponsors, a practice that turns some commercial conferences – including other prestigious ones – into extended sales pitches. The program is created only to benefit you, not us.

Please read through the agenda, but here are just a few highlights:

  • Industry’s First Talent Management Shootout: See back-to-back custom demonstrations based on our script of the hottest integrated applications in HR today from four leading vendors. Then vote on your favorite.

  • Second Annual Talent Management Panel: Three senior HR executives share their thinking on and use of these applications to help you plan your own strategy free of hype, moderated by Heidi Spirgi of Knowledge Infusion. Plus five other senior practitioner sessions.

  • Web 2.0 in the Enterprise: A panel of the top HCM product executives from Oracle, SAP and Lawson join their clients to discuss how organizations and major software vendors are planning to add HR value by bringing Web 2.0 technologies (social networks, RSS, blogs, Wikis, etc.) into the enterprise.

  • Workforce Planning: Not one, but two case studies (it’s that important!) from senior practitioners at Aetna and Canada’s major wireless/telephone company, Rogers Communications, who explain in detail how they did it.

  • Our Keynoters: NBC News’ Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss on the upcoming election, Presidential courage and business leadership. Wharton Professor and contrarian Peter Cappelli on “What You Should Know About Talent Management Before Buying Software.”

  • Updated Great New Technologies Just for You!: Jason Averbook of Knowledge Infusion updates last year’s most popular session showing how to boost your own productivity using Web 2.0 technologies. Now with WiFi in the meeting rooms, you can do it yourself on your wireless-equipped laptop as he shows you how!

  • HR Portal 2.0: No one knows them better than independent consultant Mimi Brooks of Logical Design Solutions. Portals have moved well beyond the first stage of simply providing information and self-service to become linchpins of corporate systems. Come see the future today, plus a practitioner case study.

  • Get Cracking on Workforce Analytics: A tough topic, but we won’t stop trying. Expert Al Adamsen gives a tutorial to clear the fog and explains how to get those numbers necessary for the proverbial seat at the table. Plus a practitioner case study.

  • Talent Acquisition 2010: For the sixth year in a row, guru Elaine Orler untangles the Recruiting systems landscape, now further complicated by offerings from suite providers, best-of-breeds and niche specialists. Plus four practitioner case studies on Recruiting, including global.

  • Cool New Technologies for HR: Our most popular session in 2006 is updated with demonstrations of the five coolest new software products we can find today in Performance Management, Recruiting and other HR functions. Many are still in beta now, but may be available to you by show time.

  • Social Networks: Perhaps the first Web 2.0 technology corporations are adopting. Get the overview from thought-leader Gerry Crispin plus a case study from the senior leader at Dow Chemical.

  • What You Still Need to Learn About Performance Management: Based on another year-long survey and report from Bersin & Associates, publishers of last year’s ground-breaking report, “Talent Management Suites.”

  • Dave Duffield: Returns to the HR Technology stage with his client, Salesforce.com.

  • Expert Discussions: Many of the experts from our 11th Annual Analyst Panel each host a group discussion and Q&A session based on our conference tracks. Choose from Talent Management, HCM, Web 2.0 and Outsourcing (in all its flavors).

  • Expo Hall: Certain to be the world’s largest again after last year’s record-breaking 225 exhibitors. Dozens of new products will be introduced. Plus, many vendors bring their CEOs, giving you product insights you can compare and act on.

  • Plus Outsourcing, Comp & Benefits, Competencies and more!

In short, we’re focused on your getting the business benefits out of technology. As you read through the brochure, if you find yourself wishing time and again you could attend two sessions in the same time slot, bring a colleague. We have group discounts, too. Call 800-727-1227 for details.

So register today for Human Resource Executive®’s 11th Annual HR Technology® Conference & Exposition. We’re the best in the world because we know what you need to learn and are dedicated to helping you do it.

John Llamas, Director, HR Systems & Technology, Specialty Retailer

“I was very impressed with my first HR Technology® Conference, and I'm definitely planning to attend next year.  The keynote presentations, subject matter sessions, exhibit hall time, and the overall conference length were very well balanced and structured.”

"After attending for the first time, I was extremely impressed with the quality of the content and the speakers' expertise. Worth every penny!"
Debbie Olson, SR Manager, HR Systems, Medtronic, Shoreview, Minn.

"This was my fourth HR Technology® Conference! I budget specifically to attend this annual program. It's an excellent opportunity to network, learn, and get updated on the newest HR technology out there. Can't wait for next year!"
Steven Rosenblum, Regional Employment Manager, DeVry, Incorporated, Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.

Shannon Duplessis, Assistant IT Director, Louisiana Department of Civil Service, Baton Rouge

"I attended five conferences from 2001-2005, and they got better every year. At each one I've learned important and valuable new things for my work as a technology-minded HR executive. The networking is excellent and sharing the latest innovations with my organization has made the HR Technology® Conference very rewarding."
Dr. Stan Surrette, Ed.D, Former Executive Vice President, Human Resources

“Australia is a long way from Chicago, but it was worth the trip. I look forward to
attending again this year with more of my team to attend more sessions.”

“Wow! This conference is at the very top of my must attend list, everything is done with the utmost professionalism.”

MaryAnne Cipperly, Managing Director, Human Resources, Strategic Business
Partner/Technical Departments, American Airlines, Inc., Dallas, Texas

“It seems that everyday I hear of ‘new and improved’ HR software or a new way to serve our customers; I can’t keep up with it all year long. I’ve found that the HR Technology® Conference is the best way to get it all in a short time span and not feel as though I missed anything.”
Brad McPherson, AVP Human Resources, Western Region,
Caesars Entertainment, Inc., Las Vegas, Nevada

“The HR Technology® Conference is the premier annual event to evaluate the dynamic e-HR market and network with forward-thinking HR professionals from throughout North America.”

The trade show floor was great — it gave me the opportunity to see some of the products we’re looking to incorporate into our budget.”
Gina Madrigrano Friebus, VP Administration, W.O.W. Distributing Co. Inc., Sussex, Wisc.

"In addition to the informative speakers, I was able to visit one-on-one with various Human Resources vendors offering cutting edge technology, products and services to meet our company's needs. As a result, we're currently using some of the vendors to help us exceed our goals and objectives."
Samuel V. Wilkinson, Senior Vice President, Regional H.R. Manager,
Hibernia National Bank, New Orleans, Louisiana
